The source of the days being shorter (and colder) is the combination of the earths distance and rotation on it’s axis in relation to the sun. So at a breezy 10 am the sun’s just skipping over the surface of the horizon. I plan on taking advantage of this next June when I go to Iceland, where the opposite will benefit me, and I’ll have enough light to take pictures that’ll last me for months!
I like this shot. The dull colors really works well, I think.
I sorta disagree with Mr.PJ (no offense). If the colors were a little richer on the hydrants(?) I fele this pic would have a lot more punch. Maybe if the back shadows were a little darker too. On a positive note, the composition is decent (although the right-most hydrant is a littttttttle close to the edge).
